HILA was founded on 31st March 1961 in Athens - Greece and it facilitates contact with a broad array of service providers in insurance, as well as academics, regulators, industry specialists and technicians. Its key objectives include:
- The enhancement of the study of insurance theory and law through the organization of seminars and workshops, the establishment and maintenance of an insurance library and database, as well as the publication of relevant insurance studies and working papers;
- To provide a forum for the promotion, review, development and debate of insurance studies;
- To work towards improved theoretical understanding and practice in the Hellenic industry;
- To provide a forum for liaison and discussion of issues pertaining to insurance;
- To provide a central office for the circulation of information between members.
